Leicester have vehemently refused to do business with the Blues who are looking to bolster their backline after the sales of Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger to Barcelona and Real Madrid respectively.

There are reports from the English tabloids that suggest that an improved £75m offer is on the table with the structure of the add-ons the only grey area to be sorted out.

The Telegraph report Thursday night that Leicester will gun for Borussia Dortmund centreback of Nigerian descent Manuel Akanji should they change their earlier stance on not selling Fofana, at least below the player’s valuation.

Akanji plays for the Switzerland national team and was also linked during the current transfer window to Arsenal.

The Telegraph also added that Chelsea have moved closer to agreeing a deal with Barcelona for former Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to return to the Premier League to reunite with manager Thomas Tuchel whom he worked with at Borrusia Dortmund.
