Ajax have sanctioned the sale of Lisandro Martinez to Manchester United where he will reunite with former manager Eric ten Hag and considers the Nigerian, Bassey, as a good replacement.

Both players (Bassey and Martinez) are similar in their playing styles. They are able to play at the left back position as well as in the left side of central defence.

English media outlets on Sunday reveal that the massively buult Bassey will travel to Amsterdam to sign a contract worth £18.7m with add-ons that could take the entire deal to £22.9m.

Scottish Premiership giants Rangers bought Bassey for £230,000 in 2020 and his sale to the five-time European champions means that he will be the all-time record sale for the Gers.
