The Falcons had to gun for a win following their opening Group C defeat to South Africa.

Onumonu latched onto a fantastic pass from Halimat Ayinde in the 21st minute while super substitute Christy Ucheibe scored with her first touch of the ball via a header from a corner kick after she came off the bench.

Botswana resisted the forays of the Falcons subsequently, displaying defensive astuteness to see the goals conceded remain at just twice.

The Falcons will face Burundi while South Africa play Botswana on Sunday evening.
