JUST IN: Atiku Wins PDP Presidential Primary

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has emerged as the presidential flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) having won the majority delegate votes at the National Convention of the party.

The  primary was held at Mushood  Abiola Stadium, Abuja on Saturday.

767 out of the 774 expected delegates from all the local government areas across the federation were accredited.

There were 12 invalid votes.

Atiku polled 371 votes while Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike polled 237 votes to take second position.

Former senate president, Bukola Saraki  got 70 votes  and came third in the polls.

Senator Pius Anyim, former Senate President and Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) got 14 votes, Udom Emmanuel Gabriel, governor of Akwa Ibom State garnered 38, Bala Mohammed, Bauchi State governor scored 20 votes.

Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa and Tari Oliver Diana got one vote each, which could  be their their own votes.

Sokoto State governor, Aminu Tambuwal and Alhaji Mohammed Hayatu-Deen had earlier withdrawn from the race.

Tambuwal urged his supporters to support Atiku Abubakar.

Atiku who hails from Adamawa State, was a presidential candidate of the PDP during the 2019 election and now clinching the ticket for the second time in the party.
