Teams earn more prize money the further they progress in the competition, with the champions netting an extra £3.8million for winning the final.

A Liverpool triumph Saturday evening would see the Anfield club bank £93m from the competition overall, according to a report in the Mirror.

Conversely, Real Madrid will collect a whopping £102m in prize money if they come out on top.

Even if the 13-time European champions lose on Saturday Carlo Ancelotti’s side will bank around £98m, which is £5m more than the figure Liverpool will earn if they lift the trophy.

Champions League takings are impacted by a club’s past performance in the tournament.

While Liverpool have reached the final in three out of the last four seasons, Real have won it entirely four times in the last 10 years.

All 32 clubs to reach the group stages receive a base payment of £13.1m, plus another payment bases on their coefficient.

Each group stage win was worth £2.4m, and a draw £784,000.

Qualifying for the knockouts banked another £8.1m, then £9m for reaching the quarters, and £10.5m for making the semi-finals.

The finalists then get £13.1m each, with another £3.8m for the winners.

So all in all, a seventh crown would bag Liverpool just under £100m, while Real Madrid would break the £100m mark if they win.
