Buhari Appoints Prof. Antonia Simbine As DG Of NISER

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday approved the appointment of Prof. Antonia Taiye Simbine as the Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of Social and Economic Research (NISER).

Simbine who is a Professor of Political Science and International Relations, will be succeeding the outgoing Director-General, Dr Folarin Gbadebo-Smith whose tenure expires on 31st May, 2022.

According to a statement by Sufuyan Ojeifo, Special Assistant on Media to the Minister of State, Budget and National Planning the appointment takes effect from 1st June, 2022.

Simbine currently heads the Knowledge Management Development Department at NISER.

Following this appointment, Professor Simbine becomes the first woman to be appointed Director-General of the nation’s apex research institute.

NISER which was established in 1960, is domiciled in the University of Ibadan.
