A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain in Lagos, Chief Taiwo Kuye, has criticised the All Progressives Congress (APC) failure to conduct its national convention, describing the party as disorganised and disunited.

Kuye said he was not surprised the convention has failed to hold. According to him, “following their constitution, the APC caretaker committee was not empowered to organise a congress.”

Also speaking on the matter, a political analyst and human rights activist, Achike Chude, said APC’s National Caretaker Committee was living on borrowed time and that it was strange it was organising a convention.

“I am not sure that when the party was being put together, that they factored in that a caretaker committee would be doing the job of the national executive; neither am I sure it is anywhere in their books.”

Corroborating Kuye’s submission that the APC was unorganised, Achike said, “The APC is one party that has been embroiled in crisis. The party is divided against itself and what we are now seeing with regards to this congress is further proof the party is not standing as one.”

Recall that Prime Business Africa had earlier reported that the National Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee of the APC had written to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), informing it of plans to reschedule the party’s convention.

Co-signed by the Secretary and Chairman of the National Caretaker Committee, James Akpan Udoedehe and Mai Mala Buni, the letter did not state the reason for the rescheduling.
