Peseiro To Receive N20m Monthly As Super Eagles Head Coach

Confirmed assistant coach Finidi George turns 51
April 15, 2022

Portuguese coach Jose Peseiro has reportedly reached an agreement with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for a monthly salary of $50,000 (about N20.950, 000) to coach the Super Eagles.

The former Venezuela national team head coach was recommended to the NFF by AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho and according to sources close to the Federation is likely to be unveiled within the month after he might have signed the proposed four-year contract.

The NFF are considering new coaches for the Super Eagles vacant role with the likes of Philip Cocu, Joao Conceicao, Ernesto Vervalde.

It must be noted that the quoted figure of N20m is Peseiro’s demand as salary and not a confirmation that his appointment is cast in stone. The other elite coaches under consideration by the NFF will unarguably command higher salaries.

Meanwhile the NFF had confirmed the appointment of Salisu Yusuf to work on the senior national team as first assistant coach to the incoming foreign coach and woud also handle the home-based Super Eagles side and the U-23 Eagles.

Enyimba gaffer and former Super Eagles winger Finidi George will serve as the second assistant coach.

Finidi George turns 51 today (15 April). The onetime Ajax and Real Betis star was born in 1971.
