Jaiz Bank Generates N29bn From Financing Contracts, N25bn From Investment In H1 2026

Over N57.94 billion in revenue was generated by Jaiz Bank in the first half (H1) of 2026, exceeding the N45.54 billion recorded in the corresponding period in 2025, representing a 27.23 percent growth.

A breakdown of the company’s earnings showed that Jaiz Bank generated N29.60 billion from financing contracts in H1 2026, surpassing the N19.64 billion reported in H1 2025 by 50.67 percent.

According to the lender’s unaudited financial statements for the period ended June 30, 2026, Jaiz Bank also recorded N25.89 billion as income from investment activities, which increased by 6.29 percent above the N24.35 billion reported in the first half of last year.

Jaiz Bank said gross income from financing and investment transactions increased by 23.83 percent year-on-year, rising from N44 billion to N54.49 billion.

However, impairment charges gulped N675.45 million between January and June of this year, rising by 92.11 percent when compared to the N351.59 million recorded during the same period in 2025.

Also, net income after provisions surged to N54.82 billion during the period under review, surpassing the N43.65 billion posted in H1 2025, indicating an increase of 25.57 percent.

The company said return to equity investment account holders gulped N15.20 billion in the first half of this year, up by 26.76 percent compared to the N11.99 billion recorded in the same period the previous year.

In addition, fees and commission revenue contributed N2.41 billion to Jaiz Bank’s earnings in the first six months of 2026, outstripping the N2.44 billion generated in the first half of 2025.

Also, the financial institution said N329.13 million went to fee and commission expense in H1 2026, compared to the N911.59 million gulped in 2025, down by 63.89 percent.

Consequently, net fees and commission income increased to N2.08 billion in the first half of 2026, rising by 36.47 percent when compared to the N1.52 billion reached the previous year.

Further analysis showed that total income after factoring in other operating income and unrealised exchange loss was N42.06 billion in H1 2026, exceeding the N33.19 billion reported in H1 2025 by 26.71 percent.

Total expenses grew faster than total income, as the former soared by 44.47 percent to N26.63 billion in the first six months of this year, overshadowing the N18.43 billion recorded in the corresponding period the year before.

This contributed to profit before tax (PBT) rising by 4.53 percent year-on-year, from N14.75 billion to N15.42 billion, according to analysis of the company’s financial statement.

Income tax expenses also grew by single digit or 6.95 percent to N331.42 million in H1 2026, compared to the N309.89 million paid for the period between the first quarter (Q1) and the second quarter (Q2) of 2025.

Consequently, Jaiz Bank recorded N15.09 billion as profit after tax (PAT) in the first half of this year, up by 4.47 percent when compared to the N14.44 billion reached in H1 last year.

Meanwhile, in the first quarter of this year, Jaiz Bank grew profit by 14 percent — despite commission earnings declining by 31 percent.
