Nigerian Bourse Valuation Rises Above N160trn — First Time Since May

The value of transactions increased in the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) on Monday, with the market capitalisation of the bourse rising above N160 trillion for the first time since May.

According to the NGX, the market capitalisation ended trading at N160.42 trillion, rising by N1.90 trillion above Friday’s N158.51 trillion.

Also, the all-share index (ASI) appreciated from 245,573.6 ASI to 248,529.75 ASI, representing a 2,956.15 basis points increase.

Equity traders offered N27.01 billion for 1.13 billion shares in 59,185 deals on Monday, up from the N26.65 billion exchanged for 1.51 billion shares in 42,580 deals, on Friday.

Top Five Gainers

  • FGSUK2027S3’s share price increased by N15.99 kobo, from N84.01 to N100 per share.
  • Fortis Global Insurance share value grew by N0.26 kobo, from N2.60 kobo to N2.86 kobo per share.
  • Chams’ share appreciated by N0.40 kobo to end trading at N4.48 kobo, having opened with N4.08.
  • NAHCO’s share ended trading at N153 per share, from N140 per share – indicating an increase of N13.
  • Airtel Africa share value was up by N498.60 kobo, after closing at N6,300 kobo, from N5,801.40 kobo per share.

Top Five Losers

  • Ava Capital’s share price depreciated by N1.10 kobo, dwindling from N11 to N9.90 kobo per share.
  • Ecobank recorded a N7.15 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N63.95 kobo, after opening with N72.10 kobo.
  • Caverton reported a N0.50 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N5, after opening with N5.50 kobo per share.
  • Ikeja Hotel lost N3.95 kobo in its share price, to sell at N43, down from N46.95 kobo per share.
  • FTN Cocoa reported a decline of N0.74 kobo, from the previous share price of N8.84 kobo, to end trading at N8.10 kobo per share.

Top Five Trading Equities

  • Consolidated Hallmark reported that 354.06 million shares valued at N1.53 billion were traded on its floor.
  • Fortis Global Insurance recorded 307.34 million shares valued at N818.33 million.
  • Access Holdings saw investors trade 48.07 million of its shares valued at N1.36 billion.
  • Chams recorded 37.37 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N163.29 million.
  • First HoldCo reported that traders exchanged 35.75 million shares valued at N5.11 billion.
