Nigerian Stock Market Closes With N1.66trn Gain, Ecobank, Aradel Among Gainers

The Nigerian stock market closed with N1.66 trillion gain on Thursday, April 16, after the market capitalisation increased to N136.43 trillion.

On Wednesday, April 15, the market capitalisation closed at N134.77 trillion.

According to the Nigerian Exchange (NGX), the market capitalisation appreciated after the all-share index (ASI) expanded by 2,583.6 basis points.

The ASI expanded from 209,317.41 ASI to 211,901.01 ASI.

Over N34.75 billion was exchanged for 584.96 million shares in 45,559 deals, compared to the 46,231 deals sealed on Wednesday, after 706.39 million shares, valued at N41.87 billion, were traded.

Top five gainers

  • FGSUK2031S4’s share price increased by N12.99 kobo, from N82 to N94.99 kobo per share.
  • TransExpress’ share value grew by N0.50 kobo, from N5 to N5.50 kobo per share.
  • Guinea Insurance’s share appreciated by N0.11 kobo to end trading at N1.21 kobo, having opened with N1.10 kobo.
  • Aradel ended trading at N1,547.50 kobo per share, from N1,406.90 kobo per share – indicating an increase of N140.60 kobo.
  • Ecobank’s share value was up by N5.55 kobo, after closing at N61.20 kobo from N55.65 kobo per share.

Top five losers

  • Ikeja Hotel share price depreciated by N3.60 kobo, dwindling from N37 to N33.40 kobo per share.
  • Wapic recorded a N0.25 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N2.60 kobo after opening with N2.85 kobo per share.
  • CAP lost N8.95 kobo in its share price after trading hours, to sell at N95 from N103.95 kobo per share.
  • International Energy Insurance recorded a N0.27 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N3.03 after opening with N3.30 kobo per share.
  • MCNichols reported a decline of N0.39 kobo percent from the previous share price of N6.70 kobo to end trading at N6.31 kobo per share.

Top five trading equities

  • Zenith Bank reported that 61.74 million shares valued at N7.59 billion were traded on its floor.
  • UBA recorded 45.86 million shares valued at N2.11 billion.
  • Access Holdings saw investors trade 42.76 million of its shares valued at N1.15 billion.
  • NSLTECH recorded 38.49 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N37.54 million.
  • GTCO reported that traders exchanged 25.26 million shares valued at N3.23 billion.
