Passengers travelling through the domestic terminal of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA) in Abuja are facing delays following a temporary disruption to baggage processing caused by a technical fault in the terminal’s screening equipment.
Airport management said the malfunction affected baggage screening and loading operations, slowing standard procedures and causing delays to some departing flights.

In a notice issued to passengers on Monday, management apologised for the disruption and said efforts were underway to minimise the impact on travellers.

According to the statement, the fault occurred within the domestic terminal’s baggage screening system, forcing airport operators to activate alternative screening arrangements using available equipment.
While the contingency measures have allowed flight operations to continue, officials warned that the additional procedures could result in longer processing times and possible delays to departures.
Ground handling teams have been deployed across the terminal to assist passengers, provide updates and prioritise affected flights.
Management said it was working closely with airport authorities to resolve the technical issue and restore normal operations as quickly as possible.
“We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding and cooperation,” the statement said.
Passengers have been advised to arrive early for their flights and remain in contact with their airlines for further updates as the situation develops.
