President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said Nigeria would overcome terrorism and insecurity, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to protecting lives and property, even as fresh violence in parts of the country underscored ongoing security challenges.
Tinubu made the remarks while commissioning the Gateway International Agro-Cargo Airport in Iperu, Ogun State, where he said strengthening security remains a top priority alongside economic and infrastructure development.
“We will overcome violence and terrorism,” the president said, adding that investments in security infrastructure and coordinated national efforts would defeat violent threats and restore peace.

The comments came amid renewed killings in Plateau State and Nasarawa State.
Less than 24 hours after Tinubu met grieving families of victims in Angwan Rukuba, a community in Jos North, gunmen attacked another area of the state. At least three people were killed late Friday in Nyango Gyel, in Jos South, when armed men opened fire before fleeing.
Tinubu had earlier met victims at the Yakubu Gowon Airport, assuring residents that such attacks would not happen again.
Local community leader Rwang Tengwong described the latest incident as a “senseless assault” and urged security agencies to act swiftly, while calling for increased vigilance in affected areas including Riyom and Barkin Ladi.

In a separate incident, at least 11 people were reported killed in clashes between residents of Akyawa and Udege Kasa communities in Udege Development Area of Nasarawa Local Government Area, highlighting persistent communal tensions in the region.
Authorities have not yet announced arrests in connection with the attacks.
