The Nigerian Exchange’s (NGX) market capitalisation contracted by N351.74 billion on Wednesday, January 28, after the all-share index (ASI) decreased by 549.44 basis points.
According to NGX data released at the end of trading, the bourse’s market capitalisation fell to N105.73 trillion, from the N106.08 trillion posted on Tuesday, January 27.

About 42,172 deals were sealed on Wednesday after investors exchanged N623.17 million shares valued at N16.54 billion, compared to the 41,499 deals recorded on Tuesday, when traders exchanged 483.09 million shares, worth N17.37 billion.
Top five gainers
- Lotus Hal15’s share price increased by N10 to rise from N100.02 kobo to N110.02 kobo per share.
- UHOM REIT’s share value grew by N8.60 kobo, from N86.25 kobo to N94.85 kobo per share.
- Deap Capital ended trading at N9.49 kobo per share, from N8.63 kobo per share – indicating an increase of N0.86 kobo.
- Tantalizer gained N0.35 kobo to end trading at N3.88 kobo, having opened with N3.53 kobo.
- Skyway Aviation’s share value was up by N11.60 kobo, after closing at N128.60 kobo from N117 per share.
Top five losers
- RT Briscoe’s share price depreciated by N0.72 kobo, dwindling from N7.22 kobo to N6.50 kobo per share.
- May & Baker recorded a N3.90 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N35.25 kobo after opening with N39.15 kobo per share.
- Ikeja Hotel lost N3.55 kobo in its share price after trading hours, to sell at N32.25 kobo from N35.80 kobo per share.
- Living Trust recorded a N0.51 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N4.64 kobo after opening with N5.15 kobo per share.
- ETranzact reported a decline of N1.75 kobo from the previous day’s share price of N19.10 kobo to end trading at N17.35 kobo per share.

- Neimeth reported that 58.12 million shares valued at N590.60 million were traded on its floor.
- Chams recorded 39.50 million shares valued at N190.58 million.
- Access Holdings saw investors trade 33.35 million of its shares valued at N757.45 million.
- Zenith Bank recorded 32.42 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N2.30 billion.
- Tantalizer reported that traders exchanged 29.24 million shares valued at N109.83 million.
