The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has released the full names and ranks of 16 officers of the Armed Forces of Nigeria indicted by a Special Investigative Panel over alleged acts of indiscipline, including claims of plotting to overthrow the government of President Tinubu, Prime Business Africa reports.
In a press release issued on Monday, the Director of Defence Information, Major General Samaila Uba, confirmed that investigations into the case first announced in October 2025 have been concluded, with the report submitted to the appropriate superior authority in line with extant military regulations.
According to the DHQ, the comprehensive investigation examined the conduct of the affected personnel and identified actions “inconsistent with the ethics, values and professional standards expected of members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.” Some of the officers, the statement said, were found to have allegations bordering on an attempt to overthrow the government.
Join our WhatsApp ChannelMajor General Uba noted that officers found to have cases to answer would be formally arraigned before appropriate military judicial panels and tried in accordance with the Armed Forces Act and other applicable service regulations.
He stressed that the process is purely disciplinary, aimed at preserving internal discipline, cohesion and operational effectiveness within the military, while also ensuring fairness and due process.
“The Armed Forces of Nigeria remain resolute in maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, loyalty and respect for constitutional authority,” the statement added.

The indicted officers cut across the Nigerian Army, Navy and Air Force, with most drawn from the Infantry, Signals and Ordnance Corps.
