The Nigerian Exchange (NGX) recorded a N744.99 billion increase in the bourse’s market capitalisation after the all-share index (ASI) expanded by 0.58 percent on Monday, January 12.

According to NGX data, the market capitalisation of the Nigerian stock market grew from N103.77 trillion on Friday, January 9, to N104.52 trillion.

Also, the all-share index (ASI) expanded from 162,298.08 ASI to 163,244.69 ASI, representing a 946.61 basis points.

Investors exchanged 1.14 billion shares in 59,359 deals, valued at N19.23 billion, against the 624.07 million shares traded in 43,816 deals for N18.52 billion.

Top five gainers

  • Redstar Express’ share price increased by N1.05 to rise from N10.50 kobo to N11.55 kobo per share.
  • RT Briscoe’s share value grew by N0.36 kobo, from N3.60 kobo to N3.96 kobo per share.
  • ETranzact ended trading at N16.50 kobo per share, from N15 per share – indicating an increase of N1.50 kobo.
  • UPDC gained N0.50 kobo to end trading at N5.50 kobo, having opened with N5.
  • McNichols’ share value was up by N0.55 kobo, after closing at N6.05 from N5.50 kobo per share.

Top five losers

  • Champion Brew’s share price depreciated by N1.40 kobo, dwindling from N16.45 kobo to N15.05 per share.
  • Eunisell recorded a N13.60 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N156.20 kobo after opening with N169.80 kobo per share.
  • Ikeja Hotel lost N3.20 kobo in its share price after trading hours, to sell at N36.80 kobo from N40 per share.
  • Guinea Insurance recorded a N0.10 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N1.27 kobo after opening with N1.37 kobo per share.
  • Omatek reported a decline of 3.13 percent from the previous day’s share price of N1.28 kobo to end trading at N1.24 kobo per share.

  • Sovereign Insurance reported that 307.46 million shares valued at N1 billion were traded on its floor.
  • Fidelity Bank recorded 158.39 million shares valued at N3.13 billion.
  • Linkage Assurance saw investors trade 118.73 million of its shares valued at N213.86 million.
  • Mutual Benefit recorded 31.49 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N130.43 million.
  • Lasaco reported 31.01 million shares valued at N79.60 million exchanged in investors’ hands.
