NGX Suspends Trading In Unity Bank, Guinea Insurance, 6 Other Companies’ Shares

Guinness led the gainers’ list on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) on Wednesday, December 24, and Legend Internet topped the losers’ table as the stock market capitalisation increased by N118.37 billion.

According to NGX, the stock market capitalisation grew to N97.89 trillion, from N97.77 trillion reported on Tuesday, December 23.

Also, about 185.7 basis points were added to the all-share index (ASI), which increased from 153,354.13 ASI to 153,539.83 ASI.

About 1.74 billion shares were exchanged in 19,372 deals, valued at N30.04 billion, against the 677.43 million shares exchanged in 27,589 deals, worth N20.78 billion on Tuesday.

Top five gainers

  • Guinness’ share price increased by N28.90 kobo to rise from N289.70 kobo to N318.60 kobo per share.
  • Austin Laz’s share value grew by N0.29 kobo, from N2.91 kobo to N3.20 kobo per share.
  • International Breweries ended trading at N14.50 kobo per share, from N13.20 kobo per share – indicating an increase of N1.30 kobo.
  • ALEX gained N3.40 kobo to end trading at N38.50 kobo, having opened with N35.10 kobo.
  • First HoldCo’s share value was up by N1.45 kobo, after closing at N16.35 kobo from N14.90 kobo per share.

Top five losers

  • Legend Internet’s share price depreciated by N0.50 kobo, dwindling from N5.40 kobo to N4.90 kobo per share.
  • Mansard recorded a N1 decline in its share price to end trading at N13 after opening with N14 per share.
  • Jaiz Bank lost N0.26 kobo in its share price after trading hours, to sell at N4.51 kobo from N4.77 kobo per share.
  • MTN Nigeria recorded a N27.70 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N504 after opening with N531.7 kobo per share.
  • NEM reported a decline of N1.20 kobo from the previous day’s share price of N25.30 kobo to end trading at N24.10 kobo per share.

  • Abbey Mortgage Bank reported that 1.12 billion shares valued at N7.06 billion were traded on its floor.
  • Sterling Financial Holdings recorded 127.08 million shares valued at N895.92 million.
  • Custodian saw investors trade 115.02 million of its shares valued at N4.48 billion.
  • First HoldCo recorded 40.87 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N2.18 billion.
  • Access Holdings reported 38.17 million shares valued at N783.29 million exchanged in investors’ hands.
