Former Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District, Peter Onyeluka Nwaoboshi, has died after collapsing at his residence in Abuja on 19 December 2025.
Prime Business Africa gathered that the former lawmaker collapsed at about 8:30 a.m. and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The development has continued to draw reactions from political leaders across Delta State and beyond.

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, described Nwaoboshi’s death as a great loss to Delta State, the Anioma nation and Nigeria. In a condolence message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the governor said the late senator was a fearless advocate of the Anioma cause and devoted his life to public service.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State also expressed deep sorrow over the death, describing it as a painful loss to the party, the state and the country.
Similarly, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN), said he received the news with profound shock and deep sorrow, describing Nwaoboshi as a formidable figure in Nigerian politics whose tenure in the Senate was marked by strong legislative contributions and advocacy for the Niger Delta region.
Born on June 29, 1958, Nwaoboshi hailed from Idumuje-Unor in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State. He served in the Nigerian Senate from 2015 to 2023 and was succeeded by Ned Nwoko.
The Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Arthur Akpowowo, also confirmed the death, describing the late senator as a leader and mentor.
