Air Peace Limited has been named “Airline of the Year” at the maiden Nigeria International Air Show, held from December 2 – 4, 2025, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
The award was presented by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, who commended the carrier for its rapid growth and “remarkable contributions to Nigeria’s aviation ecosystem.”
Founded in 2014, Air Peace has evolved from operating Dornier 328s and Boeing 737 aircraft to managing one of the most diverse fleets in Africa, including Boeing 777s and the new-generation Embraer 195-E2 jets. Aviation analysts say this strategic investment in modern aircraft has strengthened the airline’s competitive edge across domestic, regional, and intercontinental markets.

In 2024, the airline launched its Lagos–London (Gatwick) service, marking its entry into Europe. It deepened that push in late 2025 with the inauguration of a direct Abuja-London (Heathrow) service the first by a Nigerian carrier a milestone that industry observers describe as a boost to Nigeria’s global aviation presence.

Organisers of the Nigeria International Air Show said the airline’s extensive domestic coverage, regional dominance, and bold long-haul operations were key reasons it emerged for the top honour in the debut edition of the event.

The award, presented by Dr. Yakubu Adam Kofamata, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, honours Onyema’s visionary leadership in transforming the West African aviation sector.
