Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration of running a government rooted in forgery, deceit, and moral bankruptcy.

This comes after Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Uche Nnaji, resigned amidst allegations of certificate forgery.

Allegations Against Nnaji

Nnaji allegedly forged his bachelor’s degree certificate from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), and his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge certificate. An investigative report revealed that Nnaji did not complete his university education and that the documents he submitted were fake.

Atiku’s Reaction

Atiku condemned Nnaji’s resignation, describing it as an attempt to whitewash a national disgrace. “What should ordinarily be a matter of national shame is now being disguised as a ‘voluntary resignation’,” Atiku said. He demanded that Nnaji be prosecuted for deceit and falsification, rather than being allowed to quietly exit.

Questioning the DSS’ Role

Atiku also criticized the Department of State Services (DSS) for clearing Nnaji despite alleged discrepancies in his documents. “The DSS truly deserves our flowers for this national disgrace,” Atiku said, questioning the agency’s due diligence. He wondered how many other individuals with questionable credentials might be occupying sensitive positions in the government.

Call for Investigation

Atiku has called for an independent investigation into the academic and professional credentials of all members of the Federal Executive Council, starting with President Tinubu. “Nigerians deserve to know the truth about those who preside over their lives and resources,” Atiku emphasized.

Pattern of Deceit

Atiku pointed to a pattern of alleged forgery and deceit within the Tinubu administration, citing the President’s own controversies surrounding his identity, age, and academic records. “When a man of questionable identity leads a country, deception becomes the standard of governance,” Atiku stated.
