Ebang described the festival as a premier tourism experience blending culture, entertainment, competition, and community to attract Nigerians nationwide and the global diaspora. He expressed a vision of revitalising Abuja’s dormant tourist offerings and urged the private sector and diaspora to invest in Nigeria’s vast cultural potential.

Adding to the festival’s prestige, African Heritage Magazine referred to Groovy December as the “World Cup of Culture and Festivals”, emphasising its scale and significance. It also announced the appointment of prominent figures Hon. (Dr.) Kenneth Gbandi as program ambassador and Super Eagles legend Samson Siasia as chief ambassador.

Details from the official Groovy December website paint an even grander vision: the festival is positioned as Africa’s premier end-of-year tourism, entertainment, and cultural event, expected to draw over 4 million attendees, including local residents, regional tourists, and the global diaspora.

The program promises concerts, competitions, culinary exhibitions, fashion, business showcases, and family-friendly activities all aimed at energising Abuja’s economy and elevating its status as a cultural destination.

This festival is more than a lineup of events it’s a calculated push to rebrand Abuja as a vibrant cultural and tourism hub. With strong leadership, diverse programming, and ambitious attendance targets, Groovy December could become a defining moment in the city’s festive calendar.
