Stock Market Cap Increases By N110.77bn As ASI Rises 0.12%

A 0.12 percent increase in the all-share index (ASI) of the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) led to the bourse’s market capitalisation rising by N110.77 billion on Tuesday, August 12.

According to data obtained from the NGX, the market capitalisation of the Nigerian stock market rose from N92.29 trillion on Monday, August 11, to N92.40 trillion.

In the same vein, the all-share index appreciated from 145,880.77 ASI to 146,055.89 ASI, representing an increase of 175.12 basis points.

Also, stock traders exchanged 1.27 billion shares in 31,155 deals, worth N24.25 billion, compared to the 2.11 billion shares exchanged in 40,435 deals, valued at N19.39 billion, the previous day.

Top five gainers

  • FGSUK2031S4’s share price increased by N13, to rise from N77 to N90 per share.
  • Associated Bus Company’s share value grew by N0.45 kobo, from N4.50 kobo to N4.95 kobo per share.
  • Champion Brew ended trading at N17.38 kobo per share, from N15.80 kobo per share – indicating an increase of N1.58 kobo.
  • AXA Mansard gained N1.61 kobo to end trading at N17.71 kobo, having opened with N16.10 kobo.
  • Ellah Lakes’ share value was up by N1.46 kobo, after closing at N16.06 from N14.60 per share.

Top five losers

  • Juli share price depreciated by N1, dwindling from N10 to N9 per share.
  • Unilever recorded a N7.90 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N71.30 kobo after opening with N79.20 kobo per share.
  • Custodian lost N4 in its share price after trading hours, to sell at N37.90 kobo from N41.90 kobo per share.
  • Academy reported a decline of N0.70 kobo from the previous day’s share price of N9 to end trading at N8.30 kobo per share.
  • May and Baker recorded a N1.50 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N18 after opening with N19.50 kobo per share.

  • Lasaco reported that 107.21 million shares valued at N439.20 million were traded on its floor.
  • Japaul Gold recorded 106.89 million shares valued at N302.65 million.
  • Sterling Financial Holdings Company saw investors trade 97.83 million of its shares valued at N784.45 million.
  • AIICO recorded 64.99 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N273.36 million.
  • Access Corporation reported 61.09 million shares valued at N1.68 billion were exchanged by investors.
