Addressing the gathering, the Director-General of the NOA, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu represented by the Director of Community Safety, Awareness and Compliance, Barrister Theresa Nnalue emphasised the agency’s commitment to promoting public awareness and civic responsibility as essential tools in tackling insecurity.

“The FCT, as the heart of the nation, must not only lead in development and governance but also set the benchmark in safety, unity, and resilience,” she said. “This can only be achieved through a unified approach involving government institutions, local communities, and security operatives.”

Also speaking at the forum, the Head of Internal Security Services at the FCT Security Services Department, Mr. Olubiyi Sunday, lauded security agencies for their ongoing efforts. He disclosed that the FCT Minister is supervising the construction of police stations across all area councils as part of a broader strategy to strengthen internal security.

In his keynote address, Chairman of the Coalition of Road Safety NGOs in Nigeria, Prince Ache Ogu Julius, called on citizens to be proactive by reporting suspicious activities and supporting security operatives.

The event featured a vibrant interactive session and the distribution of Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials. To ensure inclusivity, discussions were held in multiple local languages, including Hausa, Igbo, and Igala.

Stakeholders present included representatives of the Nigeria Police, Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIO), National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), and the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), among others.
