Known as the Diaspora Home and Abroad Housing Platform, the scheme will be officially launched during the 2025 National Diaspora Day celebrations, scheduled to take place in Abuja from July 25 to 26. The platform is designed to help millions of diaspora Nigerians navigate property acquisition in Nigeria without falling prey to fraud or misrepresentation, common concerns that have plagued overseas investors for years.

Over 20 million Nigerians living abroad sent remittances exceeding $20 billion in 2024, making the diaspora a critical economic force whose contributions now surpass foreign direct investment.
For decades, diaspora Nigerians have been eager to invest in property back home, whether for retirement, economic opportunity, or family legacy. However, incidents of fraudulent property sales, unverified agents, and poor regulation have discouraged many. This new platform, NiDCOM says, will serve as a verified ecosystem of trusted developers, secure listings, and financing pathways backed by government oversight.

The initiative also aligns with the goals of the National Diaspora Policy, which calls for stronger inclusion of diaspora Nigerians in development planning through programs focused on housing, education, entrepreneurship, and national integration.
By offering a centralized, technology-driven system, the Diaspora Home and Abroad Housing Platform aims to restore confidence, protect diaspora investments, and transform the housing sector into a more accessible and transparent market for Nigerians abroad.
Officials say further details on eligibility, registration, financing options, and the developer verification process will be unveiled at the launch event. The commission expressed confidence that the platform will “empower diaspora Nigerians with tools for safe home ownership, deepen investor trust, and strengthen their stake in Nigeria’s development.”
