The 2023 Labour Party Presidential candidate election, Peter Obi, also joined in observing the third day of Fidau prayers, according to Islamic rites in honour of the late Buhari.

In a video clip of an interview with Arise TV during the condolence visit shared on X, Obi recounted a profound advice he received from Buhari when they met during the 2022/2023 election campaigns, to care for poor Nigerians.

“I had the opportunity of meeting him (Buhari) when we were campaigning, and I could remember his words: ‘Please care for the poor Nigerians,’ that is what I have always remembered,” Obi stated, adding, “and I believe that he did his best within his capacity.”

On what Nigerians should learn from the ex-president’s demise, Obi urged that people should learn to serve the nation, knowing that everyone would be called one day by the creator.

The former Anambra State Governor, who was absent from the burial events on Tuesday, said it was due to the challenge of logistics.

Some members of the Labour Party who went with Obi for the condolence visit include Senator representing FCT, Ireti Kingibe, and Okey Ezea of the Enugu North Senatorial district.
