Izuchukwu OkosiSouth African champions Mamelodi Sundowns suffered a 4-3 defeat to Borussia Dortmund in their FIFA Club World Cup Group F meeting at TQL Stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio on Saturday night.
The match was cagey as both sides had limited scoring chances.

The eight-time Bundesliga champions’ defence were eventually carved open in the 11th minute through Brazilian striker Lucas Ribeiro.
Dortmund grabbed their equaliser through German-Nigerian forward Lucas Nmecha who pounced on the ball after a defensive mix-up in the 16th minute with goalkeeper Ronwen Williams at fault in Sundowns’ goal.
Dortmund went ahead through Serhou Guirassy in the 34th minute.

Then in the 45th minute, Jobe Bellingham showed his undeniable promise as he scored the third goal for Dortmund.
The first half ended on that note – 3-1 advantage Borussia Dortmund.
In the second half Dortmund profited from an own goal conceded by Khuliso Mudau in the 60th minute.
Lebo Mothiba scored the third goal for Sundowns in the 90th minute.
The ‘Brazilians’ Sundowns showed their resilience in bouncing back as they scored that goal but it was too little, too late to nick a late four-all draw.
