How Indian Family Of Five Perished In Plane Crash

A long-awaited family reunion ended in unimaginable tragedy as five members of an Indian family lost their lives in the  Air India Flight 171 crash, which occurred shortly after takeoff on Thursday.

Pratik Joshi, a 39-year-old software professional, had spent the past six years working in London, building a life in the hope of eventually bringing his family from India to join him. That dream was finally becoming a reality. Just two days earlier, his wife, Dr. Komi Vyas, a practicing physician, had resigned from her job in India. She packed up their home, said emotional goodbyes, and with their three young children, boarded the ill-fated flight to begin a new chapter abroad.

The family all smiled as they boarded the plane. Joshi shared a final photo—taken inside the aircraft with relatives—with the message: “We’re finally flying home.”

Tragically, the flight never made it to its destination. Authorities confirmed that Air India Flight 171 crashed shortly after takeoff in Ahmedabad. There were no survivors from the Joshi family.

Among the deceased are: Pratik Joshi, 39, Dr. Komi Vyas, 37, three children, names withheld pending official confirmation.

Emergency response teams and aviation authorities are actively investigating the cause of the crash. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), along with Air India and international aviation safety bodies, has launched a full-scale inquiry.

Friends and relatives, both in India and the UK, are grieving the loss of a family many described as kind, hardworking, and full of hope for the future.

“What was supposed to be a new beginning became the end,” said a family friend in Mumbai. “They had waited so long for this moment.”

The crash has reignited concern over aviation safety protocols and the fragility of life itself. As investigations continue, tributes are pouring in from across the globe, mourning a future lost too soon.
