Nigerian Stock Market Cap Gains N1.08trn In Five Hours

NGX ASI Further Drops By 0.67%, As BUA Cement, Eterna Among Top Losers

On Tuesday, May 27, the market capitalisation of the Nigerian stock market increased by N1.08 trillion from N69.29 trillion on Monday, May 26, to N70.37 trillion.

This followed the 1,721.3 basis points gained by the all-share index (ASI), which expanded from 109,884.92 ASI to 111,606.22 ASI.

Over N9.86 billion was exchanged for 409.57 million shares in 15,992 deals, compared to the previous day’s 414,50 million shares, worth N11.09 billion, exchanged in 19,775 deals.

Top five gainers

  • Airtel Africa’s share price increased by N215.60 kobo to rise from N2156.90 kobo to N2372.50 kobo per share.
  • Omatek’s share value grew by 9.23 percent, up from N0.65 kobo to N0.71 kobo per share.
  • Cornerstone ended trading at N3.40 kobo per share, from N3.13 kobo per share – indicating an increase of N0.27 kobo.
  • NAHCO gained N6.25 kobo to end trading at N80.75 kobo, having opened with N74.50 kobo.
  • UPL’s share value was up by N0.31 kobo, after closing at N5.10 kobo from N4.10 kobo per share.

Top five losers

  • MCNichols’ share price depreciated by N0.24 kobo, dwindling from N2.45 kobo to N2.21 kobo per share.
  • CWG recorded a N0.95 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N9.05 after opening with N10 per share.
  • Champion Brew lost N0.55 kobo in its share price after trading hours, to sell at N6.90 kobo from N7.45 kobo per share.
  • Redstar Express reported a decline of N0.31 kobo from the previous day’s share price of N6.71 kobo to end trading at N6.40 kobo per share.
  • Jaiz Bank recorded a N0.15 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N3.21 kobo after opening with N3.36 kobo per share.

  • Custodian reported that 37.58 million shares valued at N752.11 million were traded on its floor.
  • Fidelity Bank recorded 36.99 million shares valued at N676.31 million.
  • Veritas Kapital saw investors trade 33 million of its shares valued at N34.10 million.
  • Zenith Bank recorded 27.43 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N1.32 billion.
  • Access Corporation reported 23.69 million shares valued at N519.55 million exchanged in investors’ hands.
