I Remain Obidient, Peter Obi Supporter – Amb. Obaze

Former Secretary to the Anambra State Government, Ambassador Oseloka Obaze, has clarified his stance on politics after resigning from the Labour Party.

Obaze, a former United Nations diplomat, said he remains a member of the Obidient Movement and a strong supporter of the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, despite his exit from the party.

Prime Business Africa had reported that Obaze resigned from the party earlier this month.

In a letter addressed to the Labour Party Chairman in the Ochuche Ward 406 in the Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State, Obaze said his decision was informed by the festering crisis in the party, both at national and state levels, which major stakeholders have failed to resolve. He also stated that his resignation was to express his disapproval and protest the conduct of the April 5 governorship primary election of the Labour Party in Anambra State.

Obaze’s exit from the Labour Party has stirred reactions as people expressed surprise due to his closeness to Obi, whom he served as SSG under his administration as governor of Anambra.

In a post on his X handle, Obaze addressed concerns raised by members of the public over his action.

He said the Labour Party crisis was engineered by external forces with a certain political interest, “thus making any rational, amicable or judicial resolution of the problem impossible.”

He said he remains 100% Obidient and will continue to support Peter Obi.

“Presently, I am not a card-carrying member of any political party; I remain 100% Obidient; I continue to support Peter Obi fully in his pursuit for a New Nigeria that is Possible,” Obaze stated via his X handle on Friday.”

“My commitment to democracy and true nation-building in Nigeria remains unfettered; and finally, I am of the opinion that the ruling APC government has failed Nigeria and Nigerians,” he added, apparently dismissing permutations that he might be planning to join APC as some have done in recent times.
