FIBA 2027 World Cup Qualifiers: Nigeria’s DTigers Drawn With Rwanda, Guinea, Tunisia

Nigeria’s path to the 2027 FIBA Men’s World Cup was laid on Tuesday evening with the draw ceremony for qualifiers to the tournament in Doha, Qatar, reports Prime Business Africa.

A total of 32 nations will contest for the the prestigious Naismith Trophy. The qualifiers will take place globally across six dedicated windows between November 2025 and March 2027, with 420 games to be played.

Nigeria’s DTigers have been paired with Rwanda, Guinea and Tunisia in Group C of the FIBA African Zone qualification series.

In Group A, Cameroon will face South Sudan, Libya and Cape Verde. Senegal is the seeded team in Group B and they have been drawn to face Congo DR, Madagascar and Cote d’Ivoire. The quartet of Mali, Angola, Uganda and Egypt make up Group D.

The ceremony was held at the stunning ALHAZM in Doha.

The draw saw 80 national teams pooled ahead of the campaign, which serves as qualifiers for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
