Victor EzejaAir Peace has raised the alarm about some individuals who are exploiting the temporary closure of the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, to rip off unsuspecting passengers.
In a statement released Saturday, 19 April, signed by Head of Corporate Communication, Air Peace, Dr. Ejike Ndiulo, the airline declared that rerouting of passengers to other alternative airports is free of charge in line with its operational procedures and the terms and conditions of the flight ticket.
Join our WhatsApp Channel“We have observed that certain individuals are exploiting the temporary closure of the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, to rip off unsuspecting passengers,” Air Peace stated.
“Kindly note that the rerouting of Enugu-bound flights to alternative airports- Asaba, Owerri, or Anambra is free of charge (at no extra cost), in line with our operational procedures and the Terms and Conditions of your flight ticket.”
The airline urged passengers to remain vigilant and avoid falling victim to individuals acting as booking agents who may exploit the situation to extort them.

Prime Business Africa had reported that Air Peace announced the suspension of its flights to Enugu on Friday, 18 April, over safety concerns at the airport runway.
It said the airport runway has been causing major disruptions to its flights, hence the decision to temporarily suspend further flights into the airport until further notice.
Subsequently, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) announced on Friday the temporary closure of the Akanu Ibiam International Airport to enable it to conduct major repairs of damaged sections of the runway.

FAAN said the closure will be for two weeks, starting from 22 April to 6 May 2025.
The agency said flights scheduled to the airport will be diverted to nearby airports during the period of the closure.
