Soludo Thanks APGA Delegates, Returns Unopposed As Guber Candidate

Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has expressed his gratitude to delegates of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) who voted for him to win the APGA ticket to contest for a second term in office.

During the primaries on Saturday, 5 April, 2025, Soludo was returned unopposed as the candidate of the APGA in the upcoming 8 November governorship election in Anambra State.

Not less than 3,172 APGA delegates voted during the primary election for Soludo to clinch the party ticket.

In a statement posted on his X handle on Saturday, after the APGA governorship primary, Soludo applauded the peaceful and orderly conduct of the exercise, adding that it is “a true testament to APGA’s commitment to democratic principles.”

He also commended officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), led by the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), for their diligent monitoring of the process.

The governor extended his appreciation to the entire people of Anambra State for their unwavering support for APGA and promised that his administration and the party would continue to work tirelessly for the progress of the state.

“As I have always said, APGA is Anambra, and Anambra is APGA. We will continue to work tirelessly to make our state a prosperous and liveable homeland,” Soludo stated.

The governor further sought the approval of the party to renominate his Deputy, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, as his running mate in the election, adding that “Together, we will build on the progress we have made and take Anambra to even greater heights.”

With his victory at the APGA primary election, Soludo is ready to engage candidates of other opposition political parties in a keen contest for the Anambra number one position for the next four years. Soludo was elected for his first term in office during the November 2021 election and sworn in on 17 March, 2022, taking over from his predecessor, Chief Willie Obiano,  who governed the state for two terms of four years each, starting from 2014.
