Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen may be in line to make his much anticipated return to the game on Monday, 17 January 2022 when his Serie A side Napoli play against Bologna at 6. 30pm Nigerian time after recovering from a cheekbone and orbit fracture.
Osimhen who had a successful surgery has been involved in personal fitness regimes after the injury setback he sustained in November’s Serie A clash against Inter Milan which several stitches.
Following the surgery, it was confirmed that Osimhen would be out for three months. But the former Lille man returned to individual training just two weeks later, which raised Nigerian fans expectations over his participation in the Africa Cup of Nations.
But the 23-year-old pulled out of the squad due to the injury and coronavirus he contracted when he visited Nigeria in December.
Osimhen was threatened to be sued by the legal team of Napoli if he went on to play for Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
The former Lille star has returned to Naples after testing negative for the virus and took part in the team training for the first time since he suffered the injury.
