Four Months After, Bandits Free 34 Abductees In Minna Market Attacks

No fewer than 34 persons abducted by armed bandits during the Kagara market attacks in Rafi Local Council of Niger State have regained their freedom.

According to a statement signed and made available to journalists in Minna by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Wasiu Abiodun, the 34 victims were abducted on September 28, 2021, when armed bandits attacked some villagers returning from Kagara market along Madaka Road.

It further explained that on 5th January 2022, 28 victims remaining in captivity, comprising males and females, were also rescued while six out of them have been reunited with their families.

The statement hinted that preliminary investigation revealed that the victims, who were kept at Kango forest via Dangulbi village in Maru local council of Zamfara State, were released at Kamfani Doka in Birnin Gwari area of Kaduna State due to the ongoing operational onslaught at neighbouring states of Zamfara and Kaduna by security agencies.

The victims were taken to hospital before reuniting with their families.
