Onyekuru, Olayinka, Ebuehi, Ajayi To Replace Quartet

Following a combination of factors including a Covid 19 positive case, injuries and administrative hitches, the quartet of Victor Osimhen, Emmanuel Dennis, Shehu Abdullahi and Leon Balogun have been omitted from Nigeria’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations squad.

In a revised list sent to the Confederation of African Football, CAF on Friday, the players have been replaced by Henry Onyekuru, Peter Olayinka, Tyrone Ebuehi and Semi Ajayi.

Serie A side Napoli were threatening to press for demands against the Nigeria Football Federation for the positive Coronavirus case of striker Victor Osimhen who only recently returned to training in the aftermath of a serous facial injury.

The duo of Leon Balogun and Shehu Abdullahi were excluded on deadline for the submission of final squad list due to injury worries while Watford’s Emmanuel Dennis failed to make the cut as his relegation threatened side claimed his invitation letter from the Nigeria Football Federation did not come as and when due.
