FOSAD Condemns Killing Of UNIZIK Lecturer, Urges Soludo To Fish Out Killers

The Forum of South-east Academic Doctors (FOSAD) has condemned the brutal killing of Dr. Osita Fabian Chinedu, a lecturer in the Department of Business Administration, Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka.

Dr Chinedu was reportedly shot dead in Awka, the Anambra State capital city by armed robbers, who equally made away with his car.

The gruesome murder of the don sent shockwaves through the community and the entire capital city.

In a statement signed by FOSAD President, Dr Stephen Nwala, and Secretary General, Dr Uzor Ngoladi, the group said it is a grave assault not just on the academic community, but on the values of peace and security that every society should uphold.

The group described Dr Chinedu as an “erudite scholar and an invaluable asset to the academic community,” adding that his untimely death is a tragic loss to his family, the university, and the entire South-east region.

“It is deeply disheartening that an individual committed to the development of education and human capital in our country would meet such a cruel and untimely end at the hands of criminals,” FOSAD stated.

“The Forum of South-East Academic Doctors expresses its profound grief and extends its condolences to Dr. Chinedu’s family, colleagues, and students who are left to grapple with this devastating loss.”

The academic body demanded a swift dispensation of justice in the matter.

The group called on the state Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, to collaborate with all security agencies to fish out the culprits.

“We call on His Excellency, Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, to ensure that all security agencies intensify efforts to fish out the perpetrators of this heinous crime and bring them to book without delay.

“The security of lives and property in Anambra State and the South-East region as a whole must remain a top priority.”

FOSAD noted that the tragedy highlights the urgent need for the state government and relevant security authorities to take a decisive action against recurring cases of insecurity, particularly the activities of car snatchers and other criminal elements threatening peace in the country.

“It is time to restore confidence among residents, including academic professionals who contribute so much to the growth and progress of our region, ” FOSAD stated.

The group added that it will continue to monitor the situation closely until justice is done for Dr. Osita Fabian Chinedu.

“We reiterate our call for swift, transparent, and thorough investigations to ensure that the culprits are apprehended and prosecuted in accordance with the law.”

The Forum also called on all stakeholders, including traditional rulers, community leaders, and security agencies, to collaborate and stamp out  criminal activities in various communities across the state. “This senseless loss of life must mark a turning point in addressing insecurity in the region,” FOSAD added.
