Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Omoni Oboli, has opened up on how sexual advances of some movie directors has forced so many talented ladies to dump their acting dreams.
Narrating a personal experience during an interview with Comedian AY on ‘Glasshouse show’ the thespian said such unprofessional conduct by some movie directors, could shatter the dreams of talented ladies who lack the ability to say no on one hand, and lower the standard of the industry on the other.
Join our WhatsApp ChannelThe incident according to Omoni occured during audition as she returned to Nigeria after taking a break to raise her kids abroad.
She said, “One director asked me to kiss him at an audition, and I couldn’t understand why he would do that. So I was like ‘is this an audition?’ and he was like ‘yeah, I just want to see’ and I said ‘sorry, I can’t do it because I didn’t see any reason I would be kissing you the director when we are not on set.
“And so I said ‘oh no sorry, I can’t.’ Guess what? I didn’t get the role that I travelled for, and I ended up travelling back without playing the role.”’

Omoni who has produced and featured in several movies including The First Lady, As crazy as it gets’Wives on Strike among others, remains passionate about helping the girl child find her bearing.
She set up a charity organisation, “The Omoni Oboli Foundation” to use her celebrity status to bring relief to the plight of the less privileged women and children of Nigerian society. The foundation has been able to embark on several projects which included the feeding of street children.
