A Lagos based Legal practitioner, Tayo Chris, has called on Government to create enlightenment and proper education programme to discourage Nigerians travelling abroad illegally.

Some have by such move walked into slavery others have met their waterloo in the process.

It is unimaginable what happens to girls who travel illegally, the treatment meted out on them and how some are used as prostitutes.

The NIDCOM Chairperson thanked National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), International Organization of Migration (IOM) and Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), for swinging into action to take delivery of the 330 stranded Nigerians from Libya who arrived in the country on Wednesday.

Appealing to the President, Embassies, Nigerian Ambassadors in different part of the world, legal practitioner, Tayo Chris, said we really need the National Orientation Agency NOA, and other enlightenment agencies in the country to conduct researches and come up with jingles and awareness about the myriads of dangers awaiting those engaging in illegal migration.

Some Nigerian Embassies don’t know what to do when they are called on to intervene and help Nigerians abroad resolve problematic situations.

Chris also urged that staff of the Nigerian embassy around the world require adequate training to help perform tasks expected of them.

The legal practitioner said, Nigerians should realise that they are kings in their country and should stop looking for greener pastures abroad, when they can make it at home.

Recall that in the last three years the Nigerian Diaspora Commission has been able to help over 9000 Nigerians safely return home from different parts of the world.
