In what may pass for counting chickens before they are hatched, Governorship candidate of All Progressive Congress in the ongoing election Monday Okpebholo says his supporters are happy and jubilating because a new dawn for Edo has come.

Okpebholo who is locked in a three-horse race  against PDP’s candidate Asue Ighodalo and Labour Party candidate Olumide Akpata appears to be seeing himself already in the driving seat even before the conclusion of voting.

Okpebholo gave the commendation while fielding questions from reporters, shortly after casting his vote at Polling Unit 003, Udomi, Uwessan Ward 1, in Esan Central Local Government Area in the state.

Okpebholo said “INEC must be commended; the voting process in my polling unit has been nothing short of perfect. My supporters are happy and jubilating because a new dawn for Edo has come”

The senator representing Edo central senatorial district at the National Assembly, boasted that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would not get a single vote at his polling unit because his people are massively supporting him

Meanwhile, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Dr. Asue Ighodalo, has re-echoed his call for level playing ground in the ongoing election.

Ighodalo the anointed candidate of incumbent Governor Godwin Obaseki had earlier alleged indiscriminate arrest of his supporters charging umpire Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure that whatever that is good for the goose is good for the gander.

Ighodalo, was accompanied by his wife, Ifeyinwa, and younger brother, Pastor Ituah Ighodalo, as he voted at Unit 3, Ward One, Idinrio Vocational Centre, Okaegben-Ewohimi in Esan Southeast Local Government Area.

Meanwhile, there are strong indications that some interstate commuters will reach their destination very late today after being stranded following restriction of movement for the ongoing election.

Some commuters are said to have been stranded along the Benin-Auchi-Okene highway in Etsako West Local Government Area.

Restriction had initially been set to commence from 8am but some reports indicate Security operatives barricaded major routes as early as 7am thus crashing the plans of some commuters who had planned to beat the time to get to their destination or exit Edo state before the restriction begins.
