1. Fuel Price Hike Pushes Transport Fares Up By 50%

The latest hike in fuel price has led to increase in transport fares in major cities across Nigeria by over 50 percent.
This has made a widespread impact on Nigerians. Some Nigerians have resorted to long-distance treks while some missed work due to high transportation costs. The Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) price of fuel in its retail outlets from N550 to about N890 per litre. Independent marketers now sell from N1000 and above.

2. NNPC To Deliver Additional 17.8 Million Barrels of Crude to Dangote Refinery

The Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has disclosed that the Dangote Refinery will receive 17.8 million barrels of crude oil between September and November to boost local petroleum production.

3. DAPPMAN Welcomes Dangote to the Petrol Market

The Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria (DAPPMAN) has welcomed Dangote Refinery to the petrol market following its rollout of premium motor spirit (PMS) otherwise known as petrol.
The Executive Secretary of DAPPMAN, Olufemi Adewole, has said that members of the association were excited about the rollout of the much-awaited petrol from Dangote Refinery.


4. Nigerian Govt Kicks off Disbursement of Consumer Loans to 500,000 Beneficiaries

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP), Uzoma Nwagba,  announced yesterday that the Federal Government was set to disburse consumer credit loans to 500,000 Nigerians.
In a statement by Nwagba at Abuja, he said that successful applicants for the Consumer Credit Loan will start getting the cash next week.

5. NiDCOM DG, Dabiri-Erewa, Urges Unity Among Africans

Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has urged Africans to live in unity.
She spoke when she received Miss Universe Nigeria, Chidinma Adetshina, at NiDCOM’s Office in Lagos where she urged Nigerians in diaspora with dual citizenship to keep in touch with home and be proud of their citizenship.


6. Nigerians Mustn’t Wait to Protest Against Tinubu – Sowore

Former 2023 presidential candidate of African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore has said that Nigerians should not wait till October 1st to protest against the Tinubu government.
In a post on his X handle, Sowore urged Nigerians to revolt against the government at any time of their choosing.


7. 188 Cases of oil theft Recorded in Past Week – NNPC

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has revealed that 188 cases ofoi has been recorded in the past week.
According to reports by the NNPC, it stated, “Between the 24th and 30th of August 2024, a total of 188 incidents of oil theft were recorded across several locations in the Niger Delta from different incident sources.”


8. NNPCL Suspends Sale of Petrol to Independent Marketers amid Price Hike

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation has suspended the sale of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) popularly called petrol to independent marketers after the increase in petrol price on Tuesday.
National Vice President of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, Hammed Fashola, said the NNPC stopped selling fuel to the independent marketers after the increase in fuel price on Tuesday to N855 and above across retail outlets nationwide.


9. U20 Women’s World Cup: Nigeria Loses to Germany

Nigeria’s U20 women’s football team, the Falconets has lost 1-3 to Germany in a match on Thursday at the ongoing 2024 FIFA Under 20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia.
The win moved Germany to the first place with six points from two games while Nigeria stays at second place with three points after their win over South Korea.


10. Customs Confiscates Military Camouflage, Illicit Drugs at Onne Port

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Area 2 Command, Onne, Rivers has confiscated 12 containers loaded with military/paramilitary camouflage and illicit drugs worth N31 billion at Onne Port, Rivers State.
This was revealed by its Comptroller-General, Mr Bashir Adeniyi, while briefing newsmen on Wednesday.
