Family Releases Senator Ayogu Eze's Burial Date

The burial arrangement for late Enugu Senator Ayogu Eze has been announced.

Prime Business Africa recalls that the lawmaker died on 25th April 2024 at the age of 65.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday 28th May 2024, the late Senator Eze will be buried on Friday, 14th  June 2024 in his hometown, Umuida, Enugu-Ezike, Igbo Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State.

The statement signed by the Chairman of the Committee of Friends for Ayogu Eze’s Burial, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, revealed that the burial will be preceded by an inter-denominational Service of Songs and Night of Tribute on Friday, 7th June 2024 in Abuja.

It further said that on Tuesday, June 11th, 2024, there will be a Night of Praise in Enugu, followed by a Christian wake that will take place in Umuida, Enugu-Ezike, on Thursday, 13th June 2024. The Funeral mass will be on Friday, 14th June 2024, in Umuida, Enugu-Ezike in Enugu state.

Senator Eze had represented Enugu North Senatorial District in the Senate from 2007 to 2015.  While in the Senate, he served as chairman of the Senate Committee on Information and Media becoming the Senate spokesperson and later as chairman Senate Committee on Works. He was also a member of Senate committees on Police Affairs, National Planning, Marine Transport and Federal Character & Inter-Government Affairs.

At the state level, the lawmaker had served as Commissioner for Information and Culture, and also Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Affairs  under the administration of Chimaroke Nnamani.

On 10 March 2023, Senator Eze was alongside others, confirmed as Federal Commissioners in the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).
