In a groundbreaking move aimed at revolutionizing Nigeria’s education system, the Governors of Anambra, Kaduna, and Plateau States have pledged to mainstream Computer-Based Testing (CBT) scheme in secondary schools.
This commitment, announced at the launch of the Athena/Educare Free JAMB CBT initiative in Abuja on Monday, 8 April 2024 signals a unified effort towards equipping students with essential digital skills for the future.

At the event, Governor Muftwang of Plateau State emphasized the urgent need for action, stating, “This is a wake-up call, I had not paid attention to this gap before now. We will take comprehensive action immediately.”
Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra echoed this sentiment, expressing the state’s readiness to integrate CBT into the education system.
“We are already building the infrastructure to make CBT part of our education system, but today’s launch provides the impetus for speed,” he affirmed.
Similarly, Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State stressed the importance of preparing students for the future through investment in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
“Kaduna State’s investment in ICT is widely acknowledged. Our students must face the emerging future fully prepared,” he declared.
The governors’ unified decision underscores a commitment to evidence-based and non-partisan approaches in addressing educational challenges, as highlighted by Osita Chidoka, Chancellor of the Athena Centre for Policy and Leadership.
“Their unified decision to work towards solving a previously overlooked problem is a testament to the power of evidence-based and non-partisan approaches,” Chidoka remarked.
The Athena Centre, known for providing evidence-based solutions and empowering policymakers, has been instrumental in shaping this initiative. Chidoka emphasized, “At the Athena Centre, our mission is to provide evidence-based solutions, develop practical toolkits, and empower policymakers to solve local and national challenges.”
Furthermore, the Athena Centre’s invitation to join in reaching one million of the 1.9 million JAMB registrants by sharing the link to the Athena/Educare Free JAMB CBT platform reflects a commitment to inclusivity and widespread access to educational resources. “Join us in reaching 1 million of the 1.9 million registered for JAMB by sharing the link,” Chidoka urged.
