Herbert Wigwe, Wife, Child Among Victims Of Helicopter Crash

The helicopter crash involving Herbert Wigwe, the CEO of Access Holdings, has claimed the lives of not only the businessman but also his wife and child who were onboard with him.

The ill-fated chopper, which was en route to Las Vegas, crashed near the border between Nevada and California on Friday night, as reported by SaharaReporters (SR). Wigwe, who had departed from Lagos State, Nigeria, on Wednesday, had been heading to witness the spectacle of Super Bowl 58, the pinnacle of American football, scheduled for Sunday, February 11, 2024, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

The tragedy extends beyond the Wigwe family, as another passenger identified as Bimbo Ogunbanjo, son of businessman Chris Ogunbanjo, was also aboard the flight, as disclosed by a source to SR.

The absence of Herbert Wigwe and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the Access Bank Lagos Marathon on Saturday was conspicuous, with the latter being represented by his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat. The crash site near Nipton, on the periphery of the Mojave Desert, was where US officials reported the tragic incident occurring late on Friday evening.

As condolences pour in from all corners, this unfortunate event serves as a stark reminder of the fragility of life and the indiscriminate nature of fate.
