AFCON 2023: Angolan Bank Redeems $9k Pledge To Palancras Negras Players

Angolan bank, Banco Keve, has gifted the country’s national team players the sum of $9,623 each despite losing 1-0 to Nigeria and getting eliminated from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire, reports Prime Business Africa.

The quarterfinals game at the Houphouët-Boigny stadium was the latest installment in the meetings between both nations with Nigeria’s failure to qualify for the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany and the demise of late Samuel Okwaraji still in the memory of those who saw him play football.

Several corporate organizations also made pledges to the team.

Angola’s telecommunications giants,UNITEL, announced that they will gift each of the players iPhone 15, Apple’s latest technological innovation, unlimited calls, SMS, and free internet for a year to each player and technical crew.

Sodiam EP, an oil and gas company supervised by the Ministry of Mineral Resources, offered the team and technical team the equivalent of $250,000.

The largest mattress factory in Angola, under the SMARTFLEX brand, announced plans to produce a special and exclusive edition of mattresses for the team.

A local-baded rap artiste who also produces perfumes is said to have promised a one-year supply of his brand of perfumes.
