The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has suspended the license of Mattini Airline Services Limited following the incident that occurred in Ibadan airport on Friday when the company’s jet overshoot the runway while trying to land.
The aircraft operated by Mattini Airline, had 10 individuals onboard during the incident, prompting immediate intervention by firefighting and rescue teams.

The regulatory body also announced plans for a comprehensive safety and economic audit of all private jet operations across Nigeria, underscoring its commitment to maintaining the highest aviation standards.

Michael Achimugu, the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at NCAA, revealed that the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) would conduct a meticulous safety investigation, while the NCAA initiated an economic inquiry into the terms and conditions of the PNCF (Private Non-Commercial Flight) related to Mattini Airline’s operation.
This development sheds light on the broader scrutiny facing private jet owners, including serving and non-serving governors and National Assembly members, accused of violating economic and safety regulations set by the aviation regulator.
Chris Najomo, the acting Director-General of the NCAA, warned private jet owners of potential license revocation for non-compliance during a recent press conference, signaling a stringent stance on safety regulations.
The suspension of Mattini Airline’s PNCF will remain in effect until compliance is ensured, reflecting the NCAA’s dedication to passenger safety and the enforcement of global best practices in the aviation sector.
