Breaking: CBN Tell Banks To Increase Interest Rate On Loan, Set MPR At 18.5%

Coalition of Civil Society Organizations and Abuja Grassroot Project (AGP), has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to sack the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, for gross incompetence

The group said either President Buhari sacks Emefiele or Emefiele resigns by himself before Thursday, September 23, 2021, or else a mass protest will be staged with the goal of shutting the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

AGP Coordinator, Comrade Ahmadul Yusuf, stated that the call for the CBN Governor’s resignation stemmed from his inability to stabilize the country’s economy and his hidden agenda to discredit President Muhammad Buhari’s administration through his anti-people policies.

The groups accused Godwin Emefiele, of impoverishing Nigerians, and demanded that President Buhari listen to the voices of Nigerian youths by firing the CBN Governor immediately in order to save the country from total collapse.

According to him; “We are making this demand because it has become necessary following the extensive review of the tenure of Mr Emefiele, as the head of our apex bank, and we have come to the sad conclusion that he should humbly step aside and allow a more competent person to step in to save our country from total collapse. However, if he insists on staying put in the office as the CBN boss, we will shut down the entire CBN office and ensure he resigns because enough is enough. Nigeria’s economy is going down the drain, people are suffering because of the failed economy of this country, which is as a result of the failed policies of Emefiele’s leadership.”

“We are in support of the early demand made by Arewa Youth Assembly Speaker, Mohammed Salihu who stated that his organisation has given Mr Emefiele three options to either resign voluntarily, get sacked by President Buhari or youths will occupy the CBN premises in their numbers until he resigns,” he reiterated.
