President Bola Tinubu has dismissed the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Kabir Mohammed, and also reshuffled the leadership of other key agencies in the aviation sector.
The removal of Kabir Yusuf Mohammed as Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) marked the beginning of a broader shake-up. In his place, Mrs. Olubunmi Oluwaseun Kuku steps in as the new Managing Director.

Alongside Mohammed’s replacement, the President also removed Tayib Adetunji, the Managing Director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA). Engr. Umar Ahmed Farouk will take up this role, hinting at a shift in operational strategies and goals within air traffic management.

Furthermore, the restructuring extended to the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), with Engr. Akinola Olateru being replaced by Mr. Alex Badeh Jr. as the new Director-General. This widespread alteration at the helm of aviation regulatory bodies suggests a reevaluation of safety protocols and investigative procedures within the industry.
Tinubu’s directive also initiated a meticulous recruitment process under the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development for principal officers of the African Aviation and Aerospace University (AAAU).
