The leadership of the 10th Senate has pledged a significant sum of N109 million from their December salaries to support victims affected by the tragic Kaduna airstrike in Tudun Biri village.
Senator Barau Jibrin, Deputy Senate President, made this announcement during a condolence visit to Governor Uba Sani at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House.

During the visit, Jibrin, standing in for Senate President Senator Godswill Akpabio, outlined plans for a collaborative effort between the National Assembly and the Presidency.
Their shared objective is to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding the accidental bombing, aiming to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
Governor Sani expressed gratitude for the Senate’s support and urged federal legislators to actively assist the government in conducting an inquiry into the airstrike incident.
Additionally, he appealed for reconsideration and support for the establishment of state police, emphasizing its potential to bolster national security management.
The airstrike, which claimed the lives of at least 85 civilians during a Muslim religious celebration, has sparked nationwide concern. President Bola Tinubu termed the incident a “bombing mishap,” acknowledging the tragedy without specifying the death toll.
Meanwhile, the defense ministry characterized the operation as a “needless tragedy,” underscoring the inadvertent impact on the community during a routine mission against militants.
As the nation grapples with this devastating event, the Senate’s generous donation stands as a beacon of hope for the affected individuals and families, while calls for enhanced security measures resonate across the country.
