UNILAG, Swiss Consul General Unite For Blockchain, Hydroponics Ventures

The University of Lagos and the Consul General of Switzerland in Lagos, Frank Eggmann, have inked an agreement to pioneer collaborations in blockchain/fintech and hydroponics.

This accord was sealed on Thursday, November 9, 2023, during a courtesy visit by Mr. Eggmann and the Trade Advisor at the Consulate General of Switzerland in Lagos, Ngozi Anyaso.

The distinguished visitors were welcomed by the University’s leadership, including Vice-Chancellor Prof. Folasade Ogunsola, who, during the meeting, showcased the institution’s strides in innovation, entrepreneurship, design thinking, robotics, and artificial intelligence.

Prof. Ogunsola underscored the University’s commitment to hands-on approaches across various faculties and expressed a keen interest in hydroponic agriculture.

In response, Mr. Eggmann, referring to Switzerland as the “Crypto-Valley” of the world, emphasized the nation’s supremacy in the cryptosystem, akin to Silicon Valley in the United States.

He lauded Switzerland’s skilled vocational workers and training in diverse business aspects, from accounting to human resources management.

Mr. Eggmann revealed Switzerland’s eagerness to explore additional areas of collaboration, marking the beginning of a promising partnership between academic prowess and Swiss innovation.
