Enyimba Loses Against Wydad, Crashes Out of African Football League

Nigerian Premier Football League champions Enyimba Football Club suffered a crushing 3-0 second leg defeat to Moroccan side, Wydad Casablanca in the reverse fixture of their quarterfinals match on Thursday night to be dumped out of the competition, reports Prime Business Africa.

The Peoples Elephant had lost the first leg 1-0 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo which made the return leg a herculean task.

The game was originally scheduled to hold on Wednesday but Finidi George’s team were reportedly denied travelling permit by the Moroccans.

The Aba millionaires conceded first on Thursday through Ayoub El Amloud four minutes into the game after he was set up by Yahya Jabran.

The home team doubled their advantage 38th minute through Jamal Harkass. Attiyat-Allah netted the third goal two minutes before halftime to all but score passage to the semifinals.

The Moroccan club will now lock horns with Esperance of Tunisia in the semi-final of the African Football League.

Esperance beat TP Mazembe of DR Congo 3-1 on aggregate to progress to the semifinals of the inuagural edition of the Africa Football League.

Despite their exit, Enyimba earned the sum of &1m (about N1. 2 billion) for participating in the competition.
